Board member Miss Cornell opened the recognitions by inviting two junior-high students who had sung the national anthem at recent games to perform for the board. "They never faltered. They never showed any bit of stress or angst," Miss Cornell said, praising the students for representing the schools.
A student who identified herself to the board before singing said, "I didn't think I would be able to sing, like, in front of people, but the first time I did it, I was kinda nervous. But, like, I prayed and it, like, just happened.…
