The Utah County Commission on March 26 reviewed results of a public survey about the newly formed Alpine School District and set initial school board term lengths by drawing lots for each board seat.
Rich Pyatt, Utah County communications manager, told the commission the office received 4,516 responses to a two-week public survey showing strong participation in the process. “All we did was give them an opportunity to weigh in,” Pyatt said, adding that respondents were asked which draft map (A, B or C) they preferred and given an open box for comments.
The survey and subsequent public outreach were presented as a final step in the county’s role in redrawing school-board boundaries after state law required the split.
