Broadwater County Board introduces new assistant coordinator and outlines spraying-season preparations

The Broadwater County Noxious Weed Board introduced Grace Davidson as the new assistant noxious weed and mosquito coordinator and heard an update on preparations for the upcoming spraying season.
Grace Davidson said she started about two weeks ago and described her duties: “mainly my job will be focusing more on the noxious weed stuff” and she will assist with mapping and data, help seasonals, and provide grant support. Davidson said she graduated from the University of Montana Western with an ecology degree and previously worked at the Bureau of Land Management's Dillon field office.
Davidson said she has been updating records and creating a county-specific booklet of county-listed noxious weeds, with descriptions, photos and notes on the chemicals the county uses. She said the booklet is currently for seasonals but she can produce copies for others on request.
On operations, staff said vehicle and equipment checks are underway and that no major problems have been encountered. Two seasonal employees, identified as Mark and Dean, are expected to return; an estimated start date was discussed but not finalized. A possible May 1 return date was mentioned as “possibly” and staff said they will drive roads, update maps and plan spraying areas once seasonal staff are in place. Participants also noted weather (snow) could require delaying any unwinterizing of equipment.
The board also discussed training and outreach: MWCA materials were mentioned as background, and the group reviewed invitations and RSVPs for an April 23 board training and a local dinner event.
The board confirmed its next meeting for May 20 at 7 p.m.
No formal motions or votes were taken on staffing or spraying preparations during the discussion.
