A resident told the Advisory Parks Board that Kentucky coffee trees planted on his terrace have produced woody stems that are causing maintenance problems.
Jerry Burke, who said he lives at 1733 Northpointe, told the board the trees have produced many rigid stems over recent years that plug his snowblower and damage the blades of his lawnmower. Burke said he collected four 39‑gallon bags of stems last fall and that the problem now extends into winter and spring. He said other neighbors have the same issue and that he had informed the parts department that others had called about the problem.
Burke requested the city consider addressing the issue; staff acknowledged the comment during the public comment period but did not commit to a specific remedy at the meeting.
