Residents near Wood Hill and adjacent neighborhoods reported white deposits in gutters and water with an unusual taste; city officials said tests are underway to determine the source.
A council member said Price received reports about “a lot of white stuff in our gutters” and that the city asked specialists to sample the water. The meeting record shows Kirk Rasmussen and other local contacts assisted with sampling, and that the city has received reports from a resident (Ray LeBlanc) providing ongoing water-on/water-off monitoring data.
City staff said an early review by Kirk Rasmussen suggested the residue is unlikely to come from a gas well, and that the city will bring additional experts and county representatives to investigate further. The council asked staff to continue testing and to report results to council and residents.
Officials described the water’s taste as poor and said the substance appears to be high in sodium or other minerals, based on preliminary observations. Staff emphasized the matter is still under investigation and that no regulatory or public-health conclusion had yet been reached.
Background and next steps: The mayor and staff said they sent the initial results to city staff members Miles and Russell and that they will invite other agencies or consultants as needed to identify the source. The council did not adopt any new regulations at the meeting and asked staff to update the council when laboratory results or additional sampling are available.
