North Logan RDA adopts tentative FY26 budget; staff proposes citywide wayfinding signage study

The North Logan Redevelopment Agency on an unspecified date adopted a tentative FY26 budget and heard a staff proposal for a citywide wayfinding and placemaking signage study that staff said would be funded primarily from the Gateway Urban Renewal RDA fund, with portions paid from park and street impact fees.

The signage proposal was described during the RDA portion of the meeting as a study to develop a consistent brand and design for the city's entrance signs, park entrance signs and maps, directional signs and, where appropriate, private commercial signage. The staff member presenting the idea said the study would produce a unified approach so entrance signage, park maps and directional signs are consistent across the city and could also inform standards for private commercial signs.

According to the presentation, the Gateway Urban Renewal (RDA) fund would be a logical funding source for the portion tied to the Gateway entrance sign. The presenter said portions of the study that relate to parks and roads should be funded from park impact fees and street impact fees because paying park-related costs entirely from RDA monies would not be lawful. The staff member said a more concise presentation on the proposal will be provided at the upcoming budget meeting.

During the same session the RDA adopted its tentative FY26 budget. Motions on the agenda and the budget were moved and seconded and passed unanimously. The board then formally exited the redevelopment agency meeting and reconvened as the city council.

Discussion during the RDA segment included a brief reference to local debates over pole signs versus monument signs and an observation that many other cities have specific exterior signage requirements; the presenter said the city would not necessarily need to adopt overly restrictive rules but could aim for consistency.
