Council awards Dixie Springs well pump station and pump-supply contracts totaling about $1.24 million

Hurricane City Council awarded two contracts for the Dixie Springs well and associated pump station work.
Ken, the presenting staff member, reported that Interstate Rock was the low bidder and the only bidder on the Dixie Springs Well pump-station contract with a total bid of $1,080,639.50. He said the project will allow the city to use its own water rights and reduce purchases from the district. For the pump and motor supply package, Ken reported two bidders; the low bid of $160,558 came from Nickerson Company of Salt Lake.
Staff said the pump station and supply work are timed to tie into booster station phasing and future development, and the lines from the well to the tank already exist; once completed the water can be used in the system immediately. Council discussion touched on contractor selection, local bidders and long-term savings. The council approved awarding both contracts by motion; council members recorded a unanimous vote in favor.
