Resident urges council to heed Cityscape survey and prefer borough building for macro cell site

Charles Horton, identifying himself as a Franklin Park resident, urged the borough council on Aug. 20 to place any proposed macro cell (large wireless) tower on borough-owned property at the municipal building rather than the borough golf course.
Horton said a Cityscape survey of more than 600 Franklin Park residents showed roughly 80% of respondents preferred a macro tower on borough property be sited at the borough building, with a camouflaged installation as the top choice. "With the people having spoken so unequivocally and so clearly that the golf course is the wrong choice," Horton said, the council should "heed the voice of the Franklin Park residents" and ask Cityscape to include that result in its public summary.
Horton asked the council to ensure the published survey summary reflects that four out of five respondents favored the borough building site if a macro site is pursued. He said he believed the council commissioned the Cityscape survey to learn resident preferences and asked the council to act on the public feedback.
The comment was made during the public-comment portion of the meeting; council did not take immediate action on the survey during the session. Horton's remarks were recorded in the public-comments segment and the council noted the option for written comments to be emailed to the borough prior to the meeting deadline for inclusion in the record.
