Evansville redevelopment commission accepts 2024 TIF report after review of downtown hotel shortfall and bond obligations

The Evansville Redevelopment Commission on April 15 accepted the 2024 annual report on tax-increment financing (TIF) activity and discussed several items that commissioners said need clearer labeling in the state-required template, including a downtown hotel revenue shortfall, outstanding bond obligations for the Ford Center and other projects, and the accounting for developer‑funded infrastructure.

The report, prepared by the controller’s office with Department of Metropolitan Development (DMD) staff, is a state-mandated summary of activity by TIF district that staff will upload to the state’s Gateway portal and provide to the mayor’s office and City Council. Auditors were scheduled to begin reviewing the submissions May 1, staff said.
