Superintendent (unnamed) told the board April 16 that Matt Vandenberg has accepted the district’s technology director position and will begin on July 1.
The superintendent said Vandenberg currently serves as assistant technology director in Falmouth (since February 2016), previously worked in tech support in Portland and in the Maine Learning Technology Initiative (MLTI) repair depot. The superintendent described Vandenberg as having “outstanding references” and experience in educational platforms and customer service.
The superintendent said Vandenberg will spend time meeting with district tech staff before July and that the district’s central office directors are on a central office work agreement, so the hire does not require board contract approval at the meeting.
Board members offered no formal vote on the hire during the April 16 session; the superintendent said he planned to arrange a future introduction of Vandenberg to the board.
