Commissioners approve renaming Prairie Township road to honor fallen officer Jeff Shaw

Kosciusko County commissioners approved a request from a subdivision developer to change a road name in Prairie Township from Yoder to Jeff Shaw Drive to honor a fallen officer, the commission record shows.
Area-plan staff member Lee presented the request and told commissioners the road is largely undeveloped and that additional houses would receive addresses off the road if it is developed. Lee noted Jeff Shaw was an officer killed in the line of duty and that the family supports the change. "He's died killed in line of duty. His wife, they were they built their home back this drive in a children now, and they'd like to change it," Lee said.
A commissioner moved to accept the request and another seconded; the commission approved the renaming by voice vote.
Lee confirmed on the record that the road currently is not developed and that more addresses will be assigned if houses are built off the road. The commission did not specify the number of affected addresses during the meeting.
