Commissioners approve three Waste Management service contracts for county facilities

Kosciusko County commissioners voted to approve three contracts with Waste Management for trash pickup and recycling service at county facilities, the commission record shows.
County staff member Marcia presented the contracts and reported the monthly costs as stated in the meeting: the work-release site at $224.90 per month, the justice building at $660.84 per month, and county recycling collection at $1,329.90 per month. Marcia told commissioners those amounts were negotiated down from prior rates.
After Marcia’s presentation, a commissioner moved to approve the contracts and a second followed. The commission approved the contracts by voice vote.
Marcia confirmed during the presentation that the negotiated amounts represent a “considerable decrease” from previous payments; no additional contract terms or multi-year durations were specified in the meeting record.
