Claremore awards construction contract for 2023 CDBG sewer project; low bidder Horseshoe Construction

The Claremore City Council voted to award the construction contract for the 2023 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) sewer replacement project to Horseshoe Construction, the low bidder.
City staff said the base bid was $509,000. The project included two alternates: one for $167,315 and a second for $11,600. Staff recommended awarding the base bid and add alternate number 2 to Horseshoe Construction for a contract amount recorded on the record as $520,600.
The project will replace about 2,000 linear feet of gravity sewer, much of it clay tile that has severe infiltration and collapse. The project budget in the packet was approximately $456,000; staff reported the city would cover the funding gap by transferring remaining dollars from lagoon work at the water treatment plant.
Staff said they received three bids and opened them on the 18th; the city expects the contractor to complete the work within the contract period specified in the bid documents. Council members approved the award on roll call.
