Council approves resolution to partner with ODOT, contribute $500,000 toward Highway 66/Will Rogers Boulevard resurfacing

The Claremore City Council approved a resolution authorizing the city to partner with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Rogers County on a resurfacing, base repair and restriping project for Highway 66 and Will Rogers Boulevard.
City staff said ODOT has programmed the project with a projected cost of $5.3 million and has committed $4.3 million. Claremore officials said the city will propose a $500,000 contribution from next fiscal year's street rehabilitation allocation; the city manager reported the three Rogers County commissioners have agreed in principle to likewise contribute $500,000 from the county side.
Staff said ongoing local drainage work is being performed now so ODOT will not need to adjust inlet grades during resurfacing. The project, expected to be let in May and begin in August, is being planned as a roughly 90-day construction effort to be performed primarily at night to reduce daytime traffic disruption.
Council members voted to approve the resolution authorizing the city manager to execute necessary documents to participate in the project and to contribute the proposed local share.
