The City of Waukesha Landmarks Commission approved the meeting minutes and discussed several operational items and community events at its April 2 meeting.
A motion to approve the prior meeting minutes passed by voice vote during the meeting. Commissioners discussed the annual springs cleanup: staff proposed Saturday, May 10 for a springs cleanup event and is coordinating participation with Waukesha high schools; North High School has a service-learning day on May 23 and staff is exploring volunteer projects (landscaping and basin cleanup) that could coordinate with Parks Department priorities.
Staff also reminded commissioners to complete multifactor-authentication setup for city accounts. Charlie noted the Wisconsin Association of Historic Preservation Commissions conference is April 24—25 in Racine and said the city can cover registration for commissioners who wish to attend; no virtual option was available. Commissioners also briefly discussed exhibit plans for a Waukesha-room display and possible topics (springs, tile projects, breweries, manufacturing history), and agreed staff and commissioners would coordinate specifics offline.
The meeting adjourned after routine communications and a final report that one commissioner plans to step down in July.
