"This bill would ensure funding for state operations and other programs through April 9. It includes funding for the administrative payroll, general state charges, public health programs, unemployment insurance, and veterans programs," Chair Pratlow said.
The measure was described on the floor as providing for administrative payroll and routine operating costs while lawmakers and the governor continue work on a full budget. During questioning, Chair Pratlow stated, "This goes through April 9," when asked about the covered time period.
Chair Pratlow also read a figure on the floor: "The total appropriate appropriation is 3,700,000,000.0, which is an overall increase of 178,000,000,000 from our last 1." That statement appeared during floor explanation; the Clerk then proceeded with the legislative process.
Members discussed which employees and offices the administrative payroll covers. Chair Pratlow said the extender "includes employees of the executive branch; the governor, lieutenant governor, the controller, the attorney general, officers and employees of the judiciary, and employees of the legislature."
