Poulsbo Tree Board members reviewed logistics for two spring events โ an Earth Day partnership event at Fish Park and an Arbor Day planting and dedication โ and confirmed plans to plant three trees in Centennial Park as part of the Arbor Day activities.
Members said Earth Day will be held at Fish Park with the tree board located near the Master Gardeners and several community partners. Set-up was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. with the event starting at 10 a.m. The board asked volunteers to bring a canopy, a banner and the board's demonstration materials.
For Arbor Day the board confirmed a dedication that will include a memorial/tribute tree and the participation of the Gulfview Garden Club and Crossroads Rotary. Board members said John coordinated procurement of three trees and that the tribute program is not yet open to public submissions. The species list discussed included Davidia (one confirmed) and another specimen described in the meeting as not fully specified in the minutes.
Practical needs were emphasized: pre-dug planting holes, mulch, watering access, and posts. Board members asked that public works turn on water at the planting site; otherwise volunteers expected to rely on buckets and creek water as a last resort. Members agreed to promote an 11:30 a.m. on-site start for planting and to host a short walk and demonstration after the planting and proclamation reading.
Volunteers and staffing: board members and rotating staff indicated they would staff set-up and planting in shifts; Kathy Johnson (referred to as CJ), described in the meeting as an art specialist working with city staff, will assist while other staff are at concurrent events. The board asked members to coordinate who can pick up banners and materials before the events.
The board recorded no formal vote on the events; the meeting yielded assignments and a timeline for pre-event work.
