Staff added that because of the re-notice, “no action really needs to be taken tonight on this item.”
The ordinance text presented would amend Title 15 (Land Usage), chapter 159 to add portable classrooms for private schools as a conditional use under section 159.21.C. Staff and commissioners said the item cannot be heard until legal notice requirements are satisfied; staff said the newspaper notice is scheduled to run Monday the 20th and that owners within 500 feet will be mailed notices.
Commissioners asked for the substance and scope of the proposal; staff said specific project details will be provided at the public hearing, noting that public schools have different procedures and that portable classrooms are typically used where schools lack space for enrollment growth. No formal motion or vote was recorded at the meeting on this item.
The item will return to the commission’s agenda at the re-noticed public hearing on May 6, when the commission, members of the public and the applicant can present evidence and take formal action.
