Peak to Peak students report nearly 5,900 acts of kindness during school challenge; council recognized students

Members of Peak to Peak Elementary School’s character club addressed the Lafayette City Council on March 18 to report on their participation in the Great Kindness Challenge, a program coordinated by the nonprofit Kids for Peace.
Fifth-grade students, speaking at the meeting as a group, described activities that included spirit days, classroom readings, a conversation-lunch celebration and a CHIME Olympics celebration. Student presenters reported that elementary students documented 5,868 acts of kindness during the weeklong challenge.
Alexis Ball, elementary counselor at Peak to Peak, thanked the council for passing a proclamation in January recognizing the Great Kindness Challenge and said the students were proud to see a video of the council’s proclamation vote at their school assembly. Council members applauded the students and thanked them for participating.
The presentation was ceremonial and informational; council did not take legislative action related to the Great Kindness Challenge at the meeting.
