Logan Simpson visits Birchstone Park site; stakeholder kickoff meeting pending

Woodland Park committee members reported that Parks and Recreation has Logan Simpson under contract to prepare a plan for Birchstone (referred to as Bergstrom/Birchstone) Park. Representatives from Logan Simpson conducted a site visit earlier in the day, and Parks staff expect to schedule a stakeholder kickoff with the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, the Historic Preservation Committee and the Downtown Development Authority.
Committee members said the project is modest in scale and the consultant anticipates completing the plan this summer. The committee asked staff to ensure the U PHS (U P Historical Society) and other local partners are invited to the kickoff to provide historical context and stakeholder input.
No design concepts or costs were presented at the meeting; committee members said they will await the consultant’s stakeholder kickoff meeting before commenting further.
