DDA micro-grant: three formal applications so far; deadline April 18 and staff to add fillable PDF and in-person option

Woodland Park DDA staff reported that three official applications have been submitted for the DDA micro-grant program and that four other entities have reached out with interest; two additional contacts were recorded as soft inquiries.
A business owner raised concerns that the application was not fillable online and that some applicants who lack computer skills believed the form had to be completed only via an online interface. Aaron, a city staff member, said the city will make a PDF fillable version and that applicants may print, fill by hand, then scan or bring forms in person to be date-stamped. He said the intent of the in-person option was to ensure a reliable timestamp for the application date.
Debbie Miller of the Chamber of Commerce said she has received roughly 10 inquiries from businesses outside the DDA boundary and that those businesses are ineligible; she said the Chamber will continue to promote the program and can help direct applicants to city staff for assistance.
The board discussed whether to extend the application deadline; members recalled that the board had planned to reassess at the May 1 meeting and possibly reopen the program later in the season if funds remained. No extension was made at this meeting. A board member suggested that unused funds might be reallocated to flowers or beautification projects downtown if uptake is lower than expected.
The application deadline stated in the meeting was April 18 at 5:00 p.m.
