City staff told the DDA that a contract with Logan Simpson has been signed to begin a reimagining study of Bergstrom Park and that the consultant and staff have already completed two site visits.
Aaron, a city staff member, said the process will begin with a small advisory stakeholder meeting that will include representatives from the Downtown Development Authority, the Historical Preservation Committee, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and the Chamber of Commerce. He said the city expects to hold a larger joint work session with all boards shortly after the stakeholder kickoff.
Aaron told the board the DDA had pledged to pay half of the consulting fees. When asked for the DDA share, Aaron said, “It's 24,000.” A DDA member confirmed that was the DDA’s half.
No final, detailed scope, project total cost, or schedule beyond the imminent stakeholder meeting was provided during the update. City staff said they will prepare an agreement with attorneys to capture the DDA’s pledged contribution for formal action in a future agenda packet.
Members discussed the need to keep Bergstrom Park oriented to public use — including retaining bathroom access — while planning changes and to build consensus across stakeholder groups during the study.
