Council approves Excel Energy electrical extension for three new airport hangars

The Monte Vista City Council approved an agreement to extend electrical service to three new hangar sites at the municipal airport. Staff said the extension will serve development south of the existing hangars shown on the Airport Layout Plan and follows a CDOT aeronautics taxiway extension grant that supported two hangars and one additional space.
Public works staff described the Excel Energy electrical extension agreement amount as $14,773.06; the bill will be issued after hangar construction is complete. Staff said two hangars have already been constructed and occupied and that the city expects another agreement later for gas service to the hangars so each can have natural gas rather than propane tanks.
Council moved and seconded the extension agreement; roll call votes recorded Councilor Howard (Yes), Councilor Lorenz (Yes), Councilor Watson (Aye), Mayor (Curt) Thompson (Aye), Mayor Becker (Aye). The motion carried and staff was authorized to sign the contract.
City staff apologized for printing the wrong agenda packet for council; staff confirmed the item had been posted on the front door and the new city website.
