The Los Alamos Environmental Sustainability Board reviewed final plans for Earth Day 2025 and asked members to volunteer to staff a county booth and run activities planned for the April 22 event.
The board confirmed a new tent design and a set of giveaways, including screen cleaners and a pledge game organized around five categories: home energy, recycling, reduce/reuse, transportation, and food/composting. Attendees will receive a marble when they pledge one or more actions and may pose with poster boards for social media posts, staff said.
Organizers said environmental services will run a recycling game nearby and that a zero‑waste sorting station will be staffed to help attendees determine proper disposal. The board asked for volunteers to assist with the giveaway table, the pledge activity and the zero‑waste station. A flyer about the county's May 12 community EV visioning meeting will be available at the booth.
Staff noted that the county will host film showings and that several other organizations will staff tables at the Earth Day event. Volunteers from the board and other county groups were encouraged to bring jackets because the event area can be cold and exposed.
The board also discussed using Earth Day materials and activities again at the DPU Water Festival on May 20–21 and to recruit new board applicants during the event. Organizers asked members to notify staff if they can help the day of the event.
