The Wylie Public Arts Advisory Board received two updates April 17 on walking-trails Phase 3 artwork production and fabrication.
Sunny Beham reported that Tesstrack has received the first payment from the city and is working with a foundry in South Africa. Tesstrack is finalizing engineering with its engineers, including last-minute antler adjustments, and expects to submit stamped engineering drawings and an invoice for the next milestone. Once the city issues the engineering permit, Tesstrack will proceed to large-scale foam and clay modeling to create molds and intends to move to bronze casting by the end of next month.
On a related item, the board heard from a presenter about sculptor Seth Vandebul's work. Vandebul's maquette has been digitally scanned to ensure the arrow point will align correctly with the deer in the final monument; the presenter said a digital scan link would be emailed to board members for review. Members noted that both updates indicated the projects are generally ahead of schedule but remain contingent on permit issuance, foundry timelines and final engineering approval.
No formal votes or deadline changes were made; staff will circulate engineering documents and the digital maquette link for board review as they become available.
