Wylie public arts board shifts vendor coordination for Bluegrass on Ballard; volunteer sign-ups optional

The Wylie Public Arts Advisory Board discussed arrangements for the Bluegrass on Ballard event, scheduled for May 31, at its April 17 meeting.
Board members were told that Lillian, the city's downtown special events coordinator, has taken over vendor coordination and logistics this year. That work includes vendor placement and unloading; vendor-booth hours are planned from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The board may volunteer to help with setup and teardown through a volunteer sign-up form Lillian is circulating, but members are not required to staff the event for the entire day.
The board was told the city had received payments from 47 craft vendors and six food vendors to date. Members noted there are roughly six weeks until the event and that additional vendors could still register. In prior years the board directly handled vendor collections in the morning and helped direct vendors; this year those duties have been shifted to downtown special events staff. Parks and Recreation will run programming at the Brown House children's area during the event.
Board members were given instructions on how to volunteer if they choose: sign up through Lillian's volunteer form, which staff agreed to distribute by email. No formal action or vote was taken on the event during the meeting.
The board moved on after confirming that volunteers can coordinate with Lillian and that the city is handling vendor logistics.
