Onslow County Public Library announces spring programs and third annual Comic Book Fest

Onslow County Public Library this week previewed its spring program lineup and said the third annual Comic Book Fest will be Saturday, May 17, at the Jacksonville Main Library.
Tori Parks, representing Onslow County Public Library, said the system is reviving a local-author showcase at the main branch and will host a “Be Weather Aware” program featuring Les Still of News Channel 12 to discuss hurricane and severe-weather preparedness. Parks also described a returning senior citizens prom in April with professional photos and a LinkedIn mastery class at the Swansboro branch to help jobseekers and professionals improve their profiles.
Jen Mello, who organizes the Comic Book Fest, said the third annual event will run May 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Jacksonville Main Library and will include roughly 20 artists and vendors, about four food trucks, and author-illustrator Kirk Rejstrom, creator of the Duck and Moose series. Mello said the festival has grown each year and is sponsored by the friends-of-the-library groups from all four branches.
Both library representatives said program details and registration links are posted on the Onslow County Public Library Facebook page and the county website; some programs use SignUpGenius for registration. Organizers encouraged families to attend library events and wear costumes at the Comic Book Fest.
