The Westwood Heights School Board approved a series of routine and administrative actions at its meeting, including authorizing solicitation of bids for a boiler unit replacement at the district administrative office, approving ongoing esports funding, accepting personnel leave and separations, approving a contractor pay request for security work and committing to participate in the Section 105/105c school-of-choice program for fall 2025.
On building and grounds, the board authorized staff to solicit bids for replacement of a boiler unit at the administration office. Board member Mister Walker moved the measure and Board member Miss Coburn supported it. The motion passed on a voice vote; the board recorded the outcome as approved.
Under finance, the board approved an annual allocation of $2,500 for maintenance and development of the esports program at Hamady Middle High School, with unused funds to roll over to the following year. The motion was moved by Board member Miss Roberts and supported by Miss Corbin; the motion carried.
Also under finance the board approved a pay request for Nerds Express totaling $104,191.41 for work completed (invoice #2) on district keyless entry installations. Board member Miss Roberts moved the pay request and Miss Corbin supported; the motion carried.
On personnel matters the board approved a one-year unpaid leave of absence for Cheyenne Fikes for the 2025–26 school year to pursue graduate studies in France, in accordance with leave provisions outlined in the Westwood Heights bargaining agreement. The board accepted the resignation of Cindy Sheehan as food service director, effective June 30, 2025, and accepted the retirement notice of Joe Minton, kitchen manager at Hamady Elementary School, effective June 30, 2025. Those motions were moved and seconded as listed in the meeting record and carried.
The board approved board-member delegations for the Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) annual budget hearing and the GISD biennial election: Miss Corbin will serve as delegate and Miss Johnson as alternate for the budget hearing. The board also voted to participate in the Section 105/105c school-of-choice program for fall 2025; Board member Miss Corbin moved the measure and Miss Roberts seconded it.
