Two volunteers receive Northeast Ohio Education Association Positive Image Award for community rummage work

At the start of the April 16 Tallmadge Board of Education meeting, Becky Miller, a teacher at Tallmadge Elementary School and a representative of the Tallmadge Teachers Association (TTA), presented a Northeast Ohio Education Association Positive Image Award and a check to volunteers Tammy Habashaw and Lauren Stone.
Miller described the volunteers’ free rummage sale as a community service that collects and donates clothing and other items, including Talmadge Blue Devils shirts, and said the TTA and other staff have supported the effort. The board and meeting attendees applauded the recognition.
Miller said the association presented a certificate and a check for $150 to support the volunteers’ diaper donations and indicated additional funds from TTA would be provided; the meeting record as read aloud contained an inconsistency on the extra donation amount. The certificate and the check will be used to support families served by the volunteers’ program.
The board thanked the honorees and noted that teacher recognition is a regular part of the meeting’s “good news.”
