Clear Creek Amana Foundation reports $9,000 raised for inaugural "Night of the Stars," expands scholarships and grants

Mark Parker, representing the Clear Creek Amana Foundation, told the board the foundation’s recent Night of the Stars recognition project selected 44 award winners across the district and has generated strong community support.
Parker said the foundation hand-delivered invitations to nominees and received emotional responses from many recipients. He reported that, to date, sponsors have committed about $9,000 to cover the event, and 161 people had committed to attend with an expectation the final attendance could reach about 170.
The foundation also reported program and fundraising activity: a dine-out fundraiser planned for May 1, an expanded golf outing with a new silent auction and added restaurant partners, and the creation of a Kevin Walter scholarship seeded with a $2,500 donation intended to support at least five years of awards. Parker said the foundation’s board approved a plan to award roughly $21,000 in direct scholarships this year (separate from endowed scholarships), up from eight $1,000 scholarships the prior year; the foundation also plans to expand small teacher grants and other supports.
Parker said the foundation intends to grow its board and visibility across district buildings and is seeking more business and community sponsors to continue funding grants, scholarships and recognition programs.
