The Board of Health voted April 16 to send a letter to the planning board stating the health board will not participate in a proposed quarterly interdepartmental meeting series at this time. The board said it remains willing to provide information at the planning board’s request but preferred the Selectmen organize any recurring cross‑board forum.
Members said the invitation from the planning board was vague and that any cross‑board coordination should be run under the Selectmen’s purview. The board asked staff to consult town counsel to ensure the meetings would be set up properly and comply with open‑meeting procedures. The motion as amended asked staff to confirm the legal and procedural framework with town counsel before engaging further.
Board members noted they are willing to send a representative to specific meetings when a particular item requires board input (for example, when referred by the planning board or zoning board), but expressed concern about sending individual members without a posted agenda or Town counsel guidance.
