The Town of Lakeville Board of Health approved a food‑establishment license April 16 for Schools Out Ice Cream LLC, a mobile operation that will sell prepackaged ice cream and serve at private events and selected public venues. Approval was granted pending a required inspection of the vehicle and equipment.
Health staff said the operation sells prepackaged shelf‑stable items; if the truck only offers prepackaged ice cream and refrigerated bottled drinks or chips, it generally does not require extensive food preparation inspection beyond ensuring freezing and refrigeration equipment work. If the vendor cooks on site or uses town property such as a park parking lot, the board noted they must obtain permission from parks or other town entities.
The company intends to serve multiple events during the season rather than operate as a neighborhood drive‑by ice cream truck. The owner was not present for the meeting; the license was approved subject to inspection.
