JLDC schedules developer forum April 30 to spotlight housing and adaptive reuse

The Jamestown Local Development Corporation announced a developer forum set for April 30 at Wicked Warren designed to connect local and out‑of‑town developers with state agencies and local partners.

Crystal, a JLDC staff member, said the forum — organized in partnership with the Board of Public Utilities, the IDA and the JRC — will include presenters from state agencies (Department of State, EEC, ESD and others) and will focus on housing opportunities, funding consolidation and development tools. "We're really focusing on housing," Crystal said. She reported about 91 registrants at the time of the meeting and said two tracks would run: one on adaptive reuse of larger downtown buildings and a second on scattered‑site or infill development. The schedule includes morning presentations, lunch and afternoon tours (a bus tour for scattered‑site participants and a walking tour for adaptive reuse).

Staff said the mayor will give opening remarks and several state presenters are scheduled; local partners will also lead tours to highlight potential development parcels and strategies to use combined funding sources.

Registration deadlines and final logistics were discussed; staff encouraged board members and council members to stop by during the day.

The forum is intended to broaden developer interest in local housing projects and to build connections between local capacity and state funding sources.
