Public Works asks committee to correct scrivener errors in public-ways closure ordinance

Paul Zachery of Public Works asked the committee to approve an ordinance amending Ordinance No. 25-500 (adopted January 2025) to correct omitted references and a block call-out in the legal description for a closure of public ways associated with a property described as Scribner's Aircraft. Zachery said the surveyor had not provided a couple of references originally and the ordinance left out a block call-out that should have read "block 7" rather than "block 1." "We passed on an issue from the surveyor, and we didn't catch it," Zachery said, and he described internal steps to avoid repeating the error.
Council members responded with lighthearted comments acknowledging such mistakes happen and asked staff to proceed with the correction. The UED transcript records staff explanation and council questions but does not document a committee vote in the meeting minutes.
