Ventura County—oard of Local Agency Formation Commissioners (LAFCO) voted to authorize the chair to sign a letter of support for grant applications from the Ojai Valley Sanitary District to plan and seek funding for septic-to-sewer conversions in four disadvantaged neighborhoods.
The measure, approved by roll call vote, followed a staff presentation and a 40-minute discussion with the district bout scope, planning estimates and implementation issues. Scott Mextrot (surname recorded in the meeting transcript), introduced as the general manager of the Ojai Valley Sanitary District, told commissioners the district is seeking state funding for four state-designated disadvantaged communities: North Rice Road, Trustee Lane and the east and west portions of Casita Springs.
"We're looking at around a $700,000 project to plan the septic sewer conversion for those 48 parcels," Mextrot said, referring to North Rice Road. He said Trustee Lane (about 17 parcels) would need roughly $565,000 for initial planning and that Casita Springs' planning and construction has an early, overall estimate of about $11,600,000.
