Oconee County Schools schedules AP Psychology curriculum renewal, Georgia Milestones testing dates announced

Oconee County Schools presented its 2025 Georgia Milestones testing schedule and recommended renewal of its Advanced Placement (AP) Psychology instructional resources at the district’s April 14 work session.

The district’s teaching and learning presenter said statewide end-of-grade assessments will begin April 29 and end-of-course assessments on April 30, and attached a detailed testing calendar to the report. The presenter also noted that Oconee County and North Oconee high schools were named 2025 AP Honor Schools by the Georgia Department of Education.

The superintendent’s recommendation for the April 21 board meeting is to approve updated AP Psychology resources. The presenter said the district last approved AP Psychology materials in spring 2019 and that teachers and administrators reviewed and selected updated resources; copies were made available at the teaching and learning office and “no feedback has been received.” The presenter said the resource would be paid for using general fund dollars.

The presentation framed the curriculum item as a routine renewal: staff recommended removing the item from the table and approving the updated AP Psychology materials at the April 21 meeting. No formal board action on the curriculum occurred at the April 14 work session.

Additional context provided to the board included midyear school improvement visits to all 12 Oconee County schools and recognition that both district high schools had been chosen as AP Honor Schools in multiple categories by the Georgia Department of Education.

Board members asked no substantive questions during the teaching and learning report; the item is scheduled for a formal vote at the April 21 board meeting.
