Mayor Breed outlines proposed November bond to fund hospitals, clinics and downtown revitalization

Mayor London Breed told the San Francisco Board of Supervisors on June 11 that she and a group of supervisors are advancing a proposed bond for the November ballot to invest in public health, family shelter, street safety and economic revitalization.

The proposal, Breed said in the board chamber at City Hall, also includes amendments and new budget investments that the administration expects will support capital improvements at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Laguna Honda Hospital. Breed said those investments are necessary to maintain licensing, certification and regulatory compliance and to sustain care for thousands of patients annually.

Breed framed the bond as both an investment in health infrastructure and in the city’s economic recovery, saying funds would support neighborhood revitalization projects—naming Powell Street, downtown public spaces and an improved holiday plaza—and public spaces such as Harvey Milk Plaza.
