The San Francisco Board of Supervisors recognized Dr. Lehi Petra, founder of Transclinic, for her work providing telemedicine-based care and community support to transgender, nonbinary and gender nonconforming patients.
Supervisor Dorsey presented the commendation, praising Dr. Petra’s clinical background — board certified in emergency medicine with an MD from the University of Pittsburgh and more than a decade in emergency practice — and the development of Transclinic as a national telemedicine clinic founded in 2020. Dorsey said Transclinic provides hormone-replacement therapy and other medical services to patients in multiple states and hosts weekly community events and fundraising to support patients with financial hardship.
Dr. Petra accepted the recognition and spoke briefly, thanking the board and describing Transclinic’s continued work to serve patients in states where access to gender-affirming care is increasingly restricted.
The tribute was presented during the roll-call introductions portion of the recessed meeting and recorded in the meeting minutes.
