Wauwatosa City’s Financial Affairs Committee on April 15 approved a three-year contract with Rave Mobile Safety for a citywide mass notification system at $13,770 per year, for a total of $41,310.
City staff told the committee that several departments already use Rave for emergency and operational alerts and described the system as capable of sending emails, text messages, phone calls and social posts “with one press of a button.” A staff member said the city has used the system since 2022 and logged 73 uses in 2024, most of them operational notices such as water-main breaks, storm events or police and fire incidents.
Committee members said the annual cost was modest relative to the system’s utility and familiarity among staff. Alder McClough moved approval; Alder Phillips seconded. The motion passed on a voice vote recorded as passing 7–2–0.
The city memo attached to the item said staff monitored Rave’s delivery reliability and found near-100% delivery rates. Staff recommended renewing Rave rather than conducting a new procurement because prior vendor comparisons in 2022 showed similar price and scope across providers.
No members of the public spoke on the item during the meeting. The committee did not attach additional conditions to the contract in the discussion recorded in the meeting minutes.
The contract will continue the city’s existing use of Rave for both emergency alerts and operational notifications.
