Board calls joint committee meeting with Ethics Commission on anti-corruption ordinance; time and procedural amendments approved

The Board of Supervisors approved a motion to call up from committee and schedule a joint Committee of the Whole meeting with the San Francisco Ethics Commission on April 3 to consider a proposed anti-corruption and accountability ordinance amending the Campaign and Governmental Conduct Code.
Supervisor Peskin moved a set of amendments to the motion to add language calling the proposed ordinance from the Budget and Finance Committee pursuant to board rules and to adjust the short title and move clauses; Supervisor Ronan seconded the motion. The board took the amendment without objection.
At the request of the board president, supervisors then agreed to change the time-certain for the joint meeting from 5:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. because of a scheduling conflict and an anticipated appeal earlier that day. Supervisor Peskin's motion to change the time was seconded by Supervisor Safai and accepted without objection. The item as amended passed unanimously.
The motion directs that the proposed ordinance (file number referenced on the agenda) be called from the Budget and Finance Committee and scheduled as a joint session with the Ethics Commission on April 3 at 3:00 p.m. for further consideration and public discussion. The board indicated its hope of resolving the measure in the chambers rather than submitting it to the November ballot.
