The appointment came at the start of the board's special meeting after President London Breed was not present in the chamber. Angela Calvillo, Clerk of the Board, called the roll and explained that, under board rule 4.7, the clerk would call the roll and the supervisors present would appoint a presiding officer pro tem by majority vote.
On the roll call, Supervisors Kim, Mar, Peskin, Yi, Avalos and Campos voted in favor. Several supervisors were recorded as absent; the clerk announced a quorum prior to the vote. Following the tally, the clerk announced that Supervisor Campos would act as the presiding officer for the duration of the meeting.
The appointment was procedural and limited to presiding at that special meeting. No additional policy action accompanied the vote.
