Board adopts multiple ordinances, resolutions and appointments; summary of actions

At its meeting the Board of Supervisors approved a set of routine and substantive items through the consent calendar and individual actions, including administrative changes to city codes, appropriations for parks, interagency agreements and appointments.

Key items adopted or advanced: - Consent calendar (items 1–3): approved unanimously. - Item 4: Ordinance amending the Administrative Code to identify members of the retiree health care trust fund board as city officers and to exclude retiree health care trust fund contracts from certain Administrative Code provisions — passed on first reading unanimously. - Item 5: Ordinance amending the Police Code to prohibit discrimination against residents or patients at long-term care facilities on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity; provides rights of investigation/mediation and a private right of action — finally passed unanimously. - Item 7: Ordinance appropriating approximately $11,500,000 of bond and general fund proceeds for parks renovation and construction in FY2014–15 — passed on first reading unanimously. - Item 8: Resolution authorizing the General Manager of the Public Utilities Commission to modify a memorandum of agreement with the U.S. Department of the Interior, Yosemite National Park, adding approximately $6,600,000 for a total revised agreement of about $34,000,000 and extending the term through July 1, 2016 — adopted unanimously. - Item 9: Resolution approving a funding agreement with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District for SFMTA electronic bicycle lockers ($70,000) — adopted unanimously. - Items 10–17: Designation of qualified agencies for an annual joint fundraising drive; planning and administrative code amendments; changes in commission compositions and multiple appointments and reappointments — all approved unanimously unless noted.

Several motions to appoint or reappoint members to commissions and boards passed by roll call. The board also took up introductions of new business (participatory budgeting announcement, an inclusionary housing clarification ordinance introduction, Equal Pay Day resolution, water-reuse legislation, food-security task force reauthorization among others). Item 29 (resolution regarding Indiana legislation) was continued one week at the sponsor’s request.
