Eagle Pass planning commission tables two industrial rezoning requests at applicants' request

The Eagle Pass Planning and Zoning Commission on Thursday tabled two separate public-hearing rezoning requests after each applicant asked staff to postpone action.

Both matters were opened for public hearing and then continued when staff relayed that the applicants had asked for tabling. For the first item, staff said the request was submitted by AEP Texas to rezone a roughly 4.998-acre tract in Abstract 1110 from B-1 neighborhood business district to I industrial district. For the second, staff said a separate request (record references list a property conveyed to Alyssa USA LLC at 3200 U.S. Highway 57) sought the same B-1-to-I rezoning for a roughly 4.997-acre tract. In both cases staff told the commission the applicants had emailed to request the items be tabled.

Planning and Zoning Commission Chair Tiffany Velasquez closed the public hearings after confirming there were no speakers from the audience, and commissioners moved and seconded motions to table the items. Staff did not report any public testimony on either item before tabling. The commission did not take substantive action on either rezoning request; both remained on the docket for a future meeting at the applicants’ request.

Staff provided no additional schedule for when the items would return to the commission. The record provided legal descriptions and deed references for the tracts but no zoning analysis was discussed because the items were deferred.
