Candidates and qualifications
Candidates interviewed included Kyle DeShaun (development and asset-management experience with related Bay Area housing projects), Maris Ota (real estate development and long-term nonprofit board service with affordable-housing provider HIP Housing) and Stephanie Schipf (vice president of programs and operations at Alta Housing with 15 years in affordable housing). Applicants described experience in acquisition, finance, asset management and nonprofit governance and said they were motivated by the district's mission to provide housing for staff.
Interview format and timeline
Trustees asked three uniform questions of each interviewee: (1) Why do you want to serve? (2) What relevant expertise would you bring? and (3) Describe experience working on committees or boards. Trustees indicated they will allow time between interview rounds for review of resumes and deliberation. The board expects to vote on appointments at the Sept. 18 meeting.
Ending: The board will complete interviews in early September and return to deliberate and appoint members to the Mountain View Whisman Residences Corporation on Sept. 18.
