The Twinsburg Board of Education on Aug. 20 reviewed a financial health indicators report showing the district is not currently in financial stress but could be in a negative position by 2028 without adjustments, and approved a series of contracts and personnel items intended to support operations for the 2025–26 school year.
Board members said the district has already taken cost-saving steps, including a teacher buyout program, choosing not to rehire five positions and eliminating the printed district calendar to save $25,000. The board also said it has received community applications to serve on finance and building-and-grounds committees; those applications will be reviewed by the board with the treasurer, business manager and superintendent.
On formal business the board approved a contract with London and Company of Medina to complete the annual comprehensive financial report for fiscal year 2025 at a cost not to exceed $12,009.50 (general fund). The motion was moved by Mrs. Hamilton and seconded by Mrs. Egan and passed 4–0 (Mrs. Davis absent).
The board approved personnel recommendations across certified/licensed staff, classified staff, supplemental contracts and activity contracts, each pending satisfactory Ohio Revised Code background checks. Those four personnel items were moved by Mrs. Egan, seconded by Mrs. Travis and passed 4–0.
Under new business the board approved: (1) deletion of listed technology equipment from inventory (details in board exhibit); (2) a contract with Precious Cargo of Chagrin Falls for 2025–26 extracurricular and special-education transportation services (general fund); and (3) an agreement with the Northeast Ohio network for educational technology (Northeast Ohio Network for Educational Technology) based in Cuyahoga Falls for software, technology integration, wireless and ISP services at a cost of $176,888.69 (general fund). Those motions passed by recorded yes votes.
The board also approved the district’s determination of transportation impact for certain students under the Ohio law cited in the meeting (transcript citation: "Ohio revised code section 3 3.27 0.01") and set the amount of payment at $607.15 per student for those students, noting these students are in addition to those approved at the board’s July 16, 2025 meeting.
Separately, the board approved a contract for one student to attend New Story School in Independence for the 2025–26 school year; the tuition cost was listed as $94,500 (general fund). That motion was moved by Mrs. Travis, seconded by Mrs. Hamilton and passed 4–0.
The meeting opened with a brief welcome and operational updates from district leadership, including the start dates for different grade levels, acknowledgement of convocation events for staff and thanks to the PTA for providing breakfast. The board adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
