District staff presented two human-resources updates to the board: a new pool technician job description and an updated health technician job description replacing a prior certified nursing assistant (CNA) title.
Staff described the pool technician as a half-time position at Pueblo County High School responsible for pool maintenance and safety, including water chemistry, filter cleaning and ensuring compliance with state guidelines. The posting will require a Certified Pool Operator certification and preferably three years of experience in that role. Staff said the position is replacing a prior role that had pool maintenance combined with custodial duties; the district currently has no one in that position and is updating the description before posting.
The health technician item updates the former certified nurse assistant job description and changes the title because Colorado law (the Nurse Practice Act) protects specific nursing titles. Staff explained the new title, health technician, and expanded the job summary to list duties such as assisting with medical procedures, first aid, recordkeeping and administering medication to students where authorized. The changes were described as aligning the district’s posting with how other districts advertise similar positions in Colorado.
Board members asked clarifying questions about whether the pool technician was a new addition or a replacement; staff replied it is replacing the prior combined position and that the district currently has no one in that role. No formal board vote on these job descriptions was recorded in the meeting segment presented.
