Bob Peoples, chair of the city’s Open Space Advisory Committee, told the San Ramon City Council at public comment on Sept. 9 that repeated cancellations of the committee's meetings are impeding its ability to complete its 2025 work program.
Peoples said staff had asserted there were no pressing issues and therefore did not schedule regular monthly meetings; he said the September meeting would be the committee’s fourth cancellation this year, including in July and August. He told the council the cancellations “substantially increase the difficulty of the committee completing its 2025 work program presented to you as part of our annual report in February.”
He listed outstanding tasks for the remainder of 2025, including assessing protection status for open and green space, maintaining partnerships with East Bay Parks and other entities, and responding to general plan and statutory requirements. Peoples asked the council to “insist that next Monday’s meeting proceed so the committee is able to fulfill its responsibilities and achieve its goals.”
No formal council action was recorded on the comment; staff or council members did not announce a schedule change on the record during the meeting.
