Council approves five-year solid waste franchise with Live Oak Environmental

The Crockett City Council voted to approve a five-year solid waste franchise agreement with Live Oak Environmental, LLC (doing business as Pineywood Sanitation) that will run from Nov. 1, 2025, through Oct. 31, 2030.
City staff told the council the draft contract incorporated changes the council previously requested and that representatives from Live Oak — identified in the record as Denny and JD — were present to answer operational questions. Council members asked about start times, summer hours, heavy-trash pickup procedures and service for residents with disabilities.
Live Oak representatives said crews now generally start at 6 a.m.; they noted historical earlier starts (one speaker said crews once started as early as 4 a.m.) but that operations had shifted and the company was completing routes within scheduled windows. Live Oak also said the vendor has several veteran employees and that the company can provide an estimated pickup-time window if residents call the provider; managers said they could typically provide a one-hour window unless equipment problems occur. Council members asked about procedures for large-item pickup; residents were told to call the number the company provides and the items would be routed for collection.
After the brief operational discussion, a council member moved approval of the franchise agreement and a second was recorded. The mayor called the vote and the motion carried.
