Board approves multiple special-event permits, road closures, parking permits and other routine requests

The Evansville Board of Public Safety approved a slate of special-event permits, road-closure and consent requests during its April 9 meeting.
Special events approved included: - Saint Vincent Early Learning Center’s "Splash of Color" 5K (Garvin Park; Sunday, June 8, 7 a.m.–11 a.m.; barricades requested). - Tiki on Main concert overflow for a Kane Brown event (Main Street between Fifth and Sixth; Thursday, April 10, 3 p.m.–11 p.m.). - Westside Nightclub’s 2025 cruise-in car show (Franklin Street from Wabash to Saint Joe; Saturday, June 14, noon–8 p.m.). - Easterseals Fantasy of Lights at Garvin Park (multiple dates from Oct. 25 through Jan. 1 with teardown on Jan. 10; barricades requested).
The board also approved lane restrictions and road closures for several community requests, including a METS bus-stop pad at 910 N. Saint Joe Avenue (lane restriction for pad pouring), an Easter-egg-hunt safety buffer for the YMCA on Governor and Sweetser near Caldwell Park (Saturday, April 19), a construction extension for the Vault project (closure continued through June 13 for crane and related work), Signature School senior photo and graduation buffers on Main Street and multiple water-main-tap closures requested by Allstadt Hoffman Plumbing (April dates specified). The board approved parking permits for contractors (Perfection HVAC, Allstadt Huffman Plumbing) and food truck parking requests for Pizza Revolution and 3 Chicks Fudgery at 1330 W. Franklin Street on April 16. Several dumpster permits (residential cleanouts) were approved as listed on the consent agenda.
The board also approved multiple handicap parking requests recommended by the transportation engineering department for specified residential addresses; signs and curb painting will be provided when installed.
Votes on the consent and special-event items were taken by voice and recorded as ayes with no recorded opposition in the meeting minutes.
Ending: All approved permits and closures will be administered by city operations and enforcement staff according to the dates and conditions stated in the permits; contractors and event organizers are responsible for complying with traffic-control and safety requirements.
