The Evansville Parks and Recreation Board of Commissioners on April 2 approved a series of routine and project-related items, including consent-agenda agreements, a joint gas and electric easement for the Fourth and Main property, authorization for geotechnical testing, and acceptance of payroll and vendor claims.
The consent agenda approved by voice vote included authorization to execute a Swander Ice Arena use agreement with Demolition City Roller Derby and permission to close Messer Park Zoo and Botanical Garden early for two events: Boo Zoo Brew on June 14, 2025, and Members Appreciation Night on May 14, 2025. The board approved the March 19 meeting memorandum as presented.
On a separate item, commissioners approved and authorized execution of a joint gas and electric easement for the Fourth and Main (CenterPoint Square) property. Danielle, executive director, said utility partners and project consultants accommodated the Parks Department’s concerns and the department had no objections to the easement.
The board also approved a geotechnical investigation at the Fourth and Main CenterPoint Square property, including three borings and two percolation (perk) tests, to inform stormwater design. Paul Bausman, deputy director, said the property is about 75% through design development and the infiltration testing will confirm suitability of a sandy soil substrate for stormwater infiltration.
The board accepted a professional-services agreement with Morley for Teepee Park design work (see separate coverage) and approved professional services with Patriot Engineering related to borings and perk tests. Each motion was adopted by voice vote; the transcript records the motions and the chair’s call for “aye,” with the chair concluding “Motion carries.”
Ending: The approvals permit staff to proceed with procurements, site testing and contract execution; staff will return with contract documents and any required follow-up reports to the board.
